International Students

The Student Exchange Visitor Program issued guidance on July 15 and July 24 clarifying options for newly admitted students requesting student visas to study at institutions in the United States during fall 2020. A webinar was hosted by SDSU International Admissions and International Affairs on July 30. Please view the recording as it provides information you need to prepare for the fall 2020 semester.

If you are an international student NOT currently living in the United States, please enroll in fully online classes and remain in your home country for the fall 2020 semester. Given the ongoing challenges with obtaining visas and booking travel, the California State University (CSU) is issuing this guidance to international students.
If you had planned to live on campus, please contact the Office of Housing Administration and Residential Education Office at [email protected] to discuss rolling your housing contract forward to the spring 2021 semester.
The SDSU International Admissions team will work with the SDSU International Student Center (ISC) to reissue your I-20 so that you can obtain a visa and attend SDSU in person for the spring 2021 semester. Details about this process will be emailed to you after the start of the fall semester.
Yes, SDSU International Admissions sent an email on July 16, 2020 to all admitted international students. This email is available for your review.
Please contact the Office of International Admissions at [email protected] or during virtual office hours, Monday – Friday, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. PST.

Transcripts

Once you log in to your SDSU WebPortal, select Admission Status. Deadlines to submit required documents will be listed under Documents Required for Admission.

  • A green checkmark (icon green checkmark) indicates the required document has been received and determined to be complete.
  • A red "X" (icon red X) indicates a required admission document or test score is missing or an admission requirement has not been completed.
For high school transcripts and test scores, it can take 14+ days for the status of your SDSU WebPortal account to display the updated status. If it has been longer than three weeks from the time you submitted your transcripts, test scores and/or IB subject exam scores, please contact us.
The transcript deadlines depend on if you were admitted as a freshman, transfer, international freshman, or an international transfer.

Spring Grades and the Impact on Admission

Steps to Enroll Updates

Stay at home orders, school closures and other COVID-19 related issues may be preventing you from submitting official transcripts at this moment. Given this, although the deadline for transcripts including fall 2019 grades is still May 1 (unless otherwise indicated in your SDSU WebPortal account), the final transcript deadline for transfer admits is now July 15, 2020 instead of June 30, 2020. The final transcript deadline for freshmen is still July 15, 2020.

In addition, unofficial transcripts in PDF format may be submitted through the SDSU WebPortal until your official transcript(s) becomes available. When providing an unofficial transcript, save the PDF(s) as "Unofficial Transcripts, your last name, and RedID." For example, Unofficial Transcripts Smith 123456789. Log in to your SDSU WebPortal and under the left-hand menu, select Upload Admission Documents, which will enable you to upload your unofficial transcripts.

Once your school reopens, please submit a request to have your official transcript(s) sent to SDSU so we are able to finalize your admission.
