Educational Opportunity Program

The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) is an undergraduate retention program that provides support for low-income, historically disadvantaged students throughout their entire San Diego State University experience. Qualifying California residents receive support in their transition from high school to college, academic advising and personal counseling, free tutoring, student-to-student mentoring, and an EOP grant (depending upon financial eligibility).

Guardian Scholars

The SDSU Guardian Scholars Program is committed to helping students exiting the foster care system by providing a comprehensive, holistic support program to help them achieve the goal of a college degree. SDSU helps Guardian Scholars navigate the unknown waters of a college education through access to key campus resources when they are most needed. For a portion of these students, this support will include a significant scholarship to supplement their financial aid package and reduce reliance on student loans. In addition, arrangements have been made to provide Guardian Scholars living in the residence halls with on-campus housing between semesters and during the summer. SDSU's Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) serves as the main resource for Guardian Scholars, offering ongoing services such as academic advising, tutoring, skills assessment, and math and writing labs. In addition, EOP counselors will link the students to other critical services available from departments and programs throughout the university that are prepared to serve the unique needs of former foster youth.

Reality Changers

Since 2010 San Diego State University and Reality Changers, a nonprofit that helps build first-generation college students, have partnered to provide San Diego inner-city students with guaranteed admission to the university. This strategic partnership provides a valuable pipeline for inner-city youth qualifying for admission into San Diego State University. Reality Changers' core program prepares all students to meet California State University admission requirements. In addition to the academic requirements, students selected for guaranteed admissions are required to complete additional community service projects.

Student Disability Services

Student Disability Services provides qualified students with disabilities equal access to higher education through academic support services, technology and advocacy in order to promote their retention and graduation. In addition to the accommodations provided by the Student Disability Services, enhanced support services are available to eligible undergraduate students through Student Support Services for Students with Disabilities, a federally funded grant program.

Applicants with disabilities should follow the university's application process and must meet the same admissions standards as all other applicants. Documentation of disability should be sent directly to Student Disability Services after notification of provisional admission is received.

Weber Honors College

The Weber Honors College provides a community for students committed to academic achievement, the development of leadership skills, social responsibility, and international experience. The Weber Honors College features a unique interdisciplinary curriculum of small seminar classes that prepare students for high-impact educational experiences beyond the classroom, including study abroad, research, leadership, service, and creative activity. The Weber Honors College also prepares students for future graduate work and successful careers regardless of their chosen field of study. Students enrolled in the Weber Honors College are eligible for a variety of scholarships awarded through the college. Students completing the Honors curriculum are required to take part in study abroad and they graduate with the Honors Minor in Interdisciplinary Studies. San Diego State University rewards completion of the Weber Honors College requirements with special recognition at commencement, a distinct transcript annotation, a Weber Honors College graduation banquet, and a Weber Honors College certificate as a supplement to the diploma. The Weber Honors College also provides a special honors medallion to its graduates, which can be worn during commencement.
