Congratulations on your offer of admission to San Diego State University! You have worked hard to get here and we are so excited to welcome you to the SDSU family!
Accept your offer of admission and reserve your place for spring 2024 by completing the Steps to Enroll.
- Accept Your Offer of Admission and Submit Your Nonrefundable Deposit in my.SDSU
Officially accept your offer of admission by submitting the online Intent to Enroll and paying the $400 nonrefundable and nontransferable deposit by November 10 in my.SDSU. The $400 deposit will apply toward your spring basic tuition and fees. If you do not submit your Intent to Enroll in my.SDSU by the deadline, it will be assumed that you do not plan to attend SDSU and your offer of admission will be canceled.

- Notify Program (if applicable)
- Some programs may require admitted students to notify them that they are attending. In these cases, admitted students must complete both requirements (submit the online Intent to Enroll and pay the nonrefundable deposit in my.SDSU and notify the department) to officially accept the offer of admission.
- Refer to the Graduate Programs web page and select your type of program to access contact information for your department.
- Final Official Transcripts
- Degree in Progress: if your bachelor's degree was in progress at the time of admission, you are required to complete the degree prior to enrolling in your first semester at SDSU. A final official transcript with proof of degree must be provided to Graduate Admissions as soon as possible, but no later than February 28. Failure to submit the final transcript with proof of degree will result in a registration hold being placed on your record, which will prevent you from registering for the following term. If you do not complete the bachelor's degree prior to enrolling, you are not eligible for admission. There are no exceptions to this policy.
- Other Coursework: if you have any other coursework in progress at the time of admission, you are required to provide a final official transcript to Graduate Admissions as soon as possible, but no later than February 28.
SDSU provides federal and state financial aid programs (grants, part-time jobs, and student loans), as well as private alternative loans and a variety of scholarships for eligible students. Please visit the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships for more information on the different types of aid.
If you haven't done so already, submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible. If you are eligible to complete the FAFSA, be sure to use the IRS data retrieval option when completing your FAFSA to reduce errors and list SDSU's federal school code (001151) on your FAFSA.
SDSU will receive your information electronically. Once your application has been received, you will receive an email from the SDSU Financial Aid Office directing you to log in to my.SDSU to check the status of your application.
It is very important that you check your my.SDSU account regularly for financial aid information. All outstanding documents or requests for additional information will be listed on your Tasks list.
Fellowships provide financial support to graduate students and are usually awarded based on academic achievements and qualifications. To be awarded, you must apply.
There are countless fellowships offered both by SDSU and other organizations. Fellowships are competitive and considered the most prestigious form of financial support available. Each requires a separate application and additional requirements. Review each fellowship's application requirements carefully.

After you submit your Intent to Enroll, you will receive information about your official SDSU Gmail email address, which is the campus standard for communication and collaboration. Future official communication from the university will be delivered to your official SDSU Gmail address after your Intent to Enroll is submitted. All students must meet specific immunization requirements, including the university's COVID-19 requirement.
Immunizations – Due Prior to January 5, 2024
Provide proof of your immunizations and complete your Tuberculosis (TB) Risk Assessment prior to January 5, 2024. Review the Immunization Requirements web page ahead of time to review the requirements that apply to you and begin working with your healthcare professional to ensure you have completed all of the required immunizations. Make sure you have acceptable proof of completed immunizations available for submission. Acceptable proof includes records from your high school, private healthcare provider, local health department, or campus health center. Log in to the HealtheConnect portal and upload your proof of immunizations.
Health Care Insurance
Life without health insurance carries serious risk to your health, wellness, and personal finances. To ensure that all graduate students carry adequate health coverage, San Diego State University has introduced the comprehensive Graduate Student Health Insurance Program (GSHIP). GSHIP expands your coverage options to include an excellent health insurance plan the university has contracted with the insurance carrier Anthem, designed and priced for our graduate student population.
The federal Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires taxpayers and their dependents to carry health insurance. The health and wellness fee you pay each semester provides access to Student Health Services (SHS), but is not a health insurance plan under ACA guidelines. SHS is a healthcare facility that can address basic health care needs while on campus, in Calpulli Center. SHS offers quality and convenient healthcare by certified healthcare professionals. The health and wellness fee also supports Well-being & Health Promotion, Counseling & Psychological Services, as well as Student Ability Success Center.
All SDSU graduate students are required to provide proof of ACA-compliant health insurance coverage. Students with existing health insurance through an employer, family member, or any other source are required only to provide evidence of coverage once per year.
Dedicated SDSU staff are available to counsel students without health care coverage(or temporarily between plans), and provide advice on selecting among a range of health insurance options. To request a one-on-one appointment with our Healthcare Coverage Coordinator, please fill out the online Healthcare Connection Coordinator Virtual Assistance form. Those struggling to afford any of the available options may be eligible for financial support from SDSU ECRT.
Registration for spring 2024 classes will begin in November 2023. An email notification will be sent to you with additional information.
- Full-time enrollment for a graduate student is a minimum of 9 units of coursework numbered 500 through 999.
- Half-time enrollment for a graduate student is a minimum of 5 units of coursework numbered 500 through 999.
Please contact your graduate program for assistance in selecting your classes. You should also consult the University Catalog for a full listing of classes required by your program of study.
For your specific payment deadline to pay your basic tuition and fees, log into your my.SDSU and select the Financial Account tile.
For students using a 529 plan, ePayment options are available.
- Visit my.SDSU and select my.SDSU Login. Enter your SDSUid and password. For additional guidance on how to log in, please review Logging Into my.SDSU. Note: There are two ways to log in (at the upper-right hand of the page or mid-page.)
- Select the Admissions tile to review your admission decision and information about next steps.
- Select the Tasks tile in my.SDSU to review and submit all required items (To Do's) to finalize your enrollment. A status of "Initiated" indicates that the item still requires action. Once a completed item has been processed by the Office of Admissions, it will be removed from the list.
Student Disability Services (SDS) at San Diego State University authorizes and provides a variety of services and accommodations, which are determined on a case-by-case basis and in consultation with an SDS counselor.
