Licensure and credentialing requirements are set by agencies that are not controlled by or affiliated with the CSU and requirements can change at any time. For example, licensure or credentialing requirements can include evidence of the right to work in the United States (e.g., social security number or tax payer identification number) or successfully passing a criminal background check. This step only applies to provisionally admitted students whose bachelor's degree was in progress at the time of admission and who are scheduled to graduate in the spring or summer term.
Admission to SDSU as a graduate student requires the completion of a bachelor's degree prior to the start of the fall semester. If you were admitted on a provisional basis because you indicated your degree was in progress, you must complete the following requirements to maintain your offer of admission:
- Complete Your Bachelor's Degree – If your degree will not be earned prior to the start of the fall semester, please contact Graduate Admissions immediately as you may no longer be eligible for admission. There are no exceptions to this policy.
- Submit Your Official Final Transcript – Provide your official final transcript by September 30, 2027.
- Provide Official Proof of Your Degree – Provide official proof of your bachelor’s degree by September 30, 2027.
Failure to provide the required documentation by September 30, 2027, will result in a registration hold being placed on your record, which will prevent you from registering in the spring term.
Please visit SDSU's Federal Immigration Policy Changes website for the most current immigration updates and resources.

All admitted international students planning to attend San Diego State University on an F-1 student visa must submit financial documents issued within the past six months to provide evidence of funding for a minimum of one academic year.
