Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How do I apply for this program?
SDSU will review your eligibility based on the self reported information on your Cal State Apply application for admission to SDSU. Students do not need to self-identify; all eligible applicants will be reviewed and selected based on your enrollment at SDCCD and the completion of the eligibility requirements.
Which campuses are part of the SDCCD Guaranteed Admission agreement with San Diego State University?
The Guaranteed Admission Agreement applies to students currently enrolled at City, Mesa, or Miramar Colleges, which are part of the San Diego Community College District (SDCCD).
When does the Guaranteed Admission Agreement with SDSU take effect?
The SDCCD–SDSU Guaranteed Admission Agreement begins with students applying for fall 2026 transfer admission. Eligible students must apply to SDSU for fall between October 1 and December 1, 2025, and meet all requirements by the spring term prior to fall enrollment.
How many SDCCD units are required to be eligible for the Guaranteed Admission Agreement with SDSU?
To be eligible for the SDCCD-SDSU Guaranteed Admission Agreement you must complete at least 24 transferable units at one or more SDCCD institutions (City, Mesa, or Miramar) and be enrolled at an SDCCD institution during the academic year (prior to fall transfer). Note: You must still meet the requirement of 60 transferable units overall to transfer, however at least 24 units are required to be from SDCCD.
Can I attend more than one SDCCD institution?
Yes. You may attend any one or combination of the three San Diego Community College District colleges: City, Mesa, or Miramar.
Can I still qualify if I attend a non-SDCCD institution?
Yes, as long as:
  • You are enrolled at an SDCCD campus during the academic year (fall and/or spring) prior to transfer.
  • You complete at least 24 transferable units at SDCCD by the end of the spring semester before fall transfer.
  • You meet the eligibility requirements for guaranteed admission.
  • You are not currently enrolled at four-year institution for either fall or spring.
Do I need to be enrolled full time in the fall and spring at SDCCD to be eligible?
No. Part-time students enrolled in transferable units during the academic year at SDCCD institutions are eligible.
Can I still be eligible if I attend SDCCD in the fall but not in the spring before transferring?
Yes. To qualify for the Guaranteed Admission Agreement with SDSU, you must have enrollment at SDCCD during at least one term during the academic year (fall, winter intersession, or spring) prior to fall transfer.
Can I use SDSU Cross Enrollment or credit by examination such as Advanced Placement (AP) exams toward the 24 unit minimum at SDCCD?
No. SDSU Cross Enrollment and credit by exam such as AP exam credit do not count toward the 24 unit SDCCD requirement.
Is SDCCD-SDSU Guaranteed Admission Agreement available for all majors?
No. Some majors are excluded from this agreement due to additional admissions requirements. These include:
  • Nursing
  • Dance
  • Music
  • Musical Theatre
  • Television, Film & New Media-Production
  • Theatre-Performance
Review the Majors with Special Instructions for additional information.
Can I still apply to SDSU if I don't meet the Guaranteed Admission Agreement requirements?
Yes. Even if you don't qualify for the SDCCD-SDSU Guaranteed Admission Agreement, you may still apply to SDSU as long as you meet the CSU minimum admission and SDSU major specific requirements. Learn more about other transfer pathways on the Transfer Student web page.
How do I determine if my coursework meets my San Diego Compact admissions requirements?
You may utilize either ASSIST or Transferology to determine whether or not your community college courses meet your General Education and major preparation coursework requirements. You should work closely with your community college academic advisors to ensure you are enrolling in the appropriate courses needed to transfer.

Do I need to have a completed General Education (GE) plan, or just 30 units of GE completed?
For the SDCCD-SDSU Guaranteed Admission Agreement, you must complete a full GE pattern as defined in the SDSU University Catalog, such as Cal-GETC. While 30 GE semester units is the minimum for SDSU admission, completion of a full pattern is required for the SDCCD-SDSU Guaranteed Admission Agreement.
What GPA do I need to be eligible?
GPA requirements must be met at the time of application and throughout the admissions process, and will vary by major.
  • A 3.0 GPA is required for majors in Business (all majors in Fowler College of Business), Computer Science, Psychology, and Kinesiology.
  • For other majors, please review our Minimum GPA Requirements page for details.
Do I need to earn an ADT to be eligible for the SDCCD-SDSU Guaranteed Admission Agreement?
If you are applying to one of the ADT majors, you must complete the ADT to be eligible for the guaranteed admission agreement by the end of the spring term prior to fall enrollment.
I'm an engineering major and some major prep courses aren't offered at SDCCD. Will this affect my eligibility?
No. You are only required to complete articulated courses offered at SDCCD. Courses not articulated are recommended but not required for the SDCCD-SDSU Guaranteed Admission Agreement. We encourage students to consider completing them via SDSU Cross Enrollment, if possible, to make timely degree progress once at SDSU.
I'm in a non-engineering major and some major prep courses are not available at SDCCD. Will this affect my eligibility?
Yes. For non-Engineering majors, all required major preparation must be completed, even if not available at SDCCD. You must complete these courses through other options, such as SDSU Cross Enrollment.
If I self-report that I will earn an ADT degree, but do not earn it by spring 2026, what will happen?
Your admission will be at-risk if you do not earn your ADT by the end of the spring term, or if the information on your application differs from your academic record.
Who should I contact if I have questions about the SDCCD–SDSU Guaranteed Admission Agreement?
SDCCD Students: Contact the transfer center at your home campus (City, Mesa, or Miramar College).
General Inquiries: Contact SDSU at [email protected] or review the SDSU Transfer Student web page for more information.
